Vice-President of Champlain Financial Corporation, Marc-André Lemieux is also a member of the Board of Directors, the Young Leaders Circle and the Major Donors Committee of the Pediatric Research Foundation. For many years, he has invested his time and ideas in our mission to improve the health and well-being of children. On this International Thank You Day, we invite you to discover his career path and inspiring perspectives.

Marc-André, how does your expertise in finance help mobilize major donors for the Foundation, and what role do you see for young professionals in the future of philanthropy?

“My expertise in finance enables me to better understand the dynamics of the business community and effectively connect with potential major donors. By highlighting the Foundation’s mission and the concrete impact of its projects, I am able to make this community aware of the importance of our cause.

As for young professionals, their involvement is essential, even on a small scale, as they represent the future of philanthropy. By committing themselves according to their means and interests, they build bridges between generations, ensuring the sustainability of foundations. Every gesture, whether volunteering, fundraising or raising awareness, contributes to building a strong and innovative philanthropic culture.”

The Pinotage evening is a fine example of an initiative you helped lead. What lessons have you drawn from it to strengthen donor commitment through similar events?

“The Pinotage evening has become a flagship event thanks to its growing notoriety and solid base of loyal participants. This success rests on two essential pillars: exemplary teamwork and the strength of the Young Leaders Circle‘s complementary network. Together, we were able not only to organize a memorable evening, but also to raise the profile of the Foundation and its other initiatives.

One striking aspect is the loyalty of participants: many, after discovering Pinotage, get involved in other events like the Bécanes & Bottines Challenge. This shows that well-designed experiences can not only engage, but transform participants into active ambassadors for the cause.”

In your opinion, what role does innovation play in philanthropy to capture the attention of new generations of donors? What advice would you give to young professionals wishing to get involved in philanthropy?

“Innovation is key to capturing the attention of new generations, who are constantly solicited in every aspect of their lives. By offering innovative, relevant and distinctive initiatives, we can create engaging experiences that resonate with their values and expectations. This not only attracts their attention, but also reinforces their sense of belonging to the cause.

If I had to give one piece of advice to young professionals wishing to get involved in philanthropy, I’d tell them that there’s plenty of scope for them to demonstrate leadership and develop new projects. Everyone has their own style, interests and network of contacts. Do it your own way, all initiatives are good and it’s very rewarding to see the results.”

What does this phrase mean to you: “ Healing every single sick child”?

Healing every single sick child signifies the Foundation’s unwavering commitment to research to find a solution to all childhood illnesses. Health in childhood is the foundation of future life, enabling children to develop and flourish throughout their lives. Without research, there can be no progress, and society as a whole stands to gain.”

Marc-André Lemieux embodies the commitment and impact that can be made by combining expertise and passion for a cause as vital as children’s health. Through his leadership and innovative ideas, he inspires not only major donors, but also future generations of philanthropists.
