Congenital heart defects affect >1 in 100 children (60 times more common than cancer). They increase the risk of hospitalization by 20 times and are responsible for 4% of all hospital admissions in children.

In October 2020, the Association des pédiatres du Québec (APQ) sounded the alarm about the current and future impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health of children and adolescents. At CHU Sainte-Justine, the number of cases has doubled over the past year.
